December mock exam: Learner Response

 1) Type up any feedback on your paper (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). If you only have marks and a grade on the paper, write a WWW/EBI yourself based on your scores.

WWW: Jyothy, a very promising attempt from you. A very good effort in section A, Tv in particular the 12 mark Q. You are doing well to answer in detail; in the limited time given. 

EBI: Some careless mistakes about sound and for Q5 you need to compare Rashford with another CSP and how regulation is used/not.


2) Use the mark scheme for this Paper 2 mock to read the answers AQA were looking for. First, write down a definition and example of diegetic sound (Q1.1 and 1.2). 
-Sound that both audience and characters can hear. 
E.g. dialogue between Will and Lyra

3) Next, identify three points you could have made in Q1.3 - camerawork and the extract. Look for the indicative content in the mark scheme - these are the suggested answers from AQA.
-fast dolly shots- represents fast changing/ build in trust in Will and Lyras friendship
-low angle of Will- capture facial expression to be meek and timid

4) Now look at Q1.4 in the mark scheme - pick out two points from the mark scheme that you could have included in your answer.
-Blue dungarees on Lyra- subverts female stereotypes, careless, not submissive
-Will looks nervous cooking for Lyra- not dominant, subverts male stereotypes

5) Focus on Q2 - the 20-mark essay on representations of age and social and cultural contexts. Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your answer.
-Doctor Who has status and authority; he expects and commands deference. Presented as Villain to audience
-In HDM it is the teens/young adults who lead the way in driving the narrative
forward.- children self reliant.

6) Turning your attention to Section B, write a definition and example of user-generated content - use the mark scheme to check it.
-content that is created by users online
E.G. Instagram posts

7) Look at Q4 - the 20-mark essay on the power of influencers. Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer. 
-has real, stable career as footballer

-promote social media campaign

8) Now look at Q5 - the 20-mark essay on regulation and the internet. Again, pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer.

Doctor Who: An Unearthly Child Language and Representation blog tasks

1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode..   Camerawork and sound: Due to the 1960s technology, the camera work in this episode is quite poor. There are few to no cuts in the scenes, and they are incredibly sluggish and chunky. When two characters are speaking, medium shots are used, and close-up shots are used to show the characters' emotions and facial expressions. Throughout the entire show, the wording and pictures are fairly straightforward. Additionally, sound work was really straightforward. There wasn't much, if any, background music. Susan's portable radio also connects the period of production to the radio pop songs it plays. Additionally, the theme song has a sci-fi and alien-like quality. Mise-en-scene:When Susan initially appears, she is dancing and dressed like a teenager from the 1960s. Her hairstyle and attire are classic 1960s fashion. The scene is quiet dark and frightening as the two professors wander around the junkyard.
