 1) Who do you think are the main characters in His Dark Materials? Why?

The young girl (Lyra) and the young boy who travels with her, in my opinion, are the main characters in "His Dark Materials." They are first introduced and shown in the trailer, which is why I believe this. They both also receive the most screen time, which suggests that they play significant roles in the Show.


2) What narratives (storylines) are introduced in this trailer? 
We Can see that there is an ongoing narrative of people good and bad hunting/trying to find Lyra.

3) What settings appear in the trailer? Describe as many as you can.
Along with Lyra wandering through the forest, we can see the "city in the sky," which is encircled by the ocean.


4) What genre (or genres) are suggested by this His Dark Materials trailer? You may find reading the IMDB page for His Dark Materials helpful here. 
It's safe to say that "His Dark Materials" is a drama-filled programme. The trailer's varied fight scenes and the tense, suspenseful background music both imply this. Given that characters fly and "many worlds" are mentioned, it can also be stated that this is a fantasy programme.

5) Who do you think the target audience for His Dark Materials is? 
Teenagers are the show's target demographic, as evidenced by the fact that the two main characters are likewise in their teen years.

Doctor Who: An Unearthly Child Language and Representation blog tasks

1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode..   Camerawork and sound: Due to the 1960s technology, the camera work in this episode is quite poor. There are few to no cuts in the scenes, and they are incredibly sluggish and chunky. When two characters are speaking, medium shots are used, and close-up shots are used to show the characters' emotions and facial expressions. Throughout the entire show, the wording and pictures are fairly straightforward. Additionally, sound work was really straightforward. There wasn't much, if any, background music. Susan's portable radio also connects the period of production to the radio pop songs it plays. Additionally, the theme song has a sci-fi and alien-like quality. Mise-en-scene:When Susan initially appears, she is dancing and dressed like a teenager from the 1960s. Her hairstyle and attire are classic 1960s fashion.
